Brownlee, Samuel T. House

Brownlee, Samuel T. House
Category: Residential Landmark/Farmstead
Location: SR 519 in village of Wylandville

This five-bay, two-and-a-half story brick house is graced with a full first-floor Greek Revival porch supported by Ionic pillars. The center entry has a massive tripartite doorway with transom and sidelights, doubled bridged chimneys and ceiling to floor windows on the first level. Samuel Brownlee built the house on the family farm following his 1848 marriage. It was constructed based on plans used on the Reed House in Washington, showing a formal Georgian style with Greek Revival elements. It is well preserved and historically maintained. [p. 102 POP]
